Substrait vs Speculo: should an AI call your leads, or write to them?
Speculo’s Remi is a dialer. It calls your leads with a synthetic voice, qualifies them, and transfers the live call to an agent.
Substrait writes. It texts and emails from inside your CRM, under your agent’s name, and leaves the phone call to a person. Both work a database you already own.
Nine differences that decide it.
| Substrait | Remi (Speculo) | |
|---|---|---|
| What it does | Writes text and email | Calls, qualifies, transfers |
| Where it runs | Inside the CRM you already use | Speculo’s platform |
| Getting started | Connect your CRM | Upload your database at onboarding |
| Who the lead hears from | Your agent, by name | Remi, a named AI, by voice |
| The handoff | There isn’t one. It is one thread | A live transfer mid-call |
| Seats | Not billed per seat | Unlimited on every plan |
| Price at 5,000 contacts | $179 a month | $399 a month |
| Largest database served | 100,000 contacts | 20,000 contacts |
| Past clients and your sphere | Encore™. Anniversaries, birthdays, your own market page | Not offered |
Substrait prices are the founding-member rate, 40 percent off list. Speculo figures are the monthly rates published on their pricing page, read 29 August 2026. Both are cheaper billed annually.
What each one actually is.
Speculo is a voice-first outbound platform. Remi, their AI, phones the leads in your database, works out who is worth talking to, and transfers the live call to one of your agents. Onboarding starts by uploading your database into their platform, and the work happens there rather than in the CRM your team logs into. Every plan includes unlimited seats.
Substrait is an AI ISA that runs inside your existing CRM account. It reads the whole lead record and writes each message out of what is in there, sending from your office’s own number in your agent’s name. It does not call anyone. It runs Sierra Interactive and Follow Up Boss today.
What each one costs at your database size.
Both publish a rate card, so this one is straightforward. Speculo’s top published tier stops at 20,000 contacts.
| Active contacts | Substrait | Remi (Speculo) |
|---|---|---|
| 5,000 contacts | $179 a month | $399 a month |
| 10,000 contacts | $329 a month | $599 a month |
| 15,000 contacts | $329 a month | $799 a month |
| 20,000 contacts | $539 a month | $999 a month |
| 40,000 contacts | $539 a month | Quote only |
| 100,000 contacts | $1,079 a month | Quote only |
Speculo publishes four tiers and then an enterprise quote. Their top published tier covers 20,000 contacts. A brokerage with 60,000 records is off their rate card and on ours. Tiers one to three include one MLS connection; two arrive at the $999 tier.
Three questions worth answering first.
The price gap is real, but it is not the interesting part. This is a question about what you want an AI doing to your leads.
Remi calls, qualifies, and hands the live call to an agent. Done well that is fast, and Speculo does it well.
We took the other side. Substrait writes and does not perform. A lead who wants to talk gets a person, and nobody has to be told what they were speaking to.
The lead meets Remi before they meet anyone on your team, and every Speculo customer’s leads meet the same Remi.
Substrait sends as your agent, tuned to how that agent writes. Your leads never learn a second name.
Speculo’s onboarding starts by uploading your database onto their platform, and the work happens there.
Substrait reads and writes the records already in your CRM. Nothing is copied, nothing is uploaded, and there is nothing to export if you leave.
What Speculo gets right.
Their read of the problem is correct. The opportunity really is buried in the database you already own. They were saying so early and they were right.
Remi’s intent detection is a sound idea. Working out who is worth a human’s time, at scale, is the hard part. Theirs is proven across hundreds of real estate teams.
Voice reaches people text does not. Some leads answer a phone and ignore a text. If your market skews that way, a dialer is a real answer and we are not one.
And they publish their prices. Four tiers, on the page, no form to fill in. That is rarer in this category than it should be.
